Odyssey Scholarships give students more money to replace loans they would have to take on to finance their education.

The program supports all current and incoming students in the College whose families make $75,000 or less per year. Scholarship awards vary with income but can total as much as $5,225. Almost all Odyssey Scholars have a work-study job during the school year and contribute earnings from summer employment.

Odyssey Scholars can also benefit from the Chicago Academic Achievement Program (CAAP). CAAP gives up to fifty incoming students an intensive program to support their success in the College’s demanding Core curriculum.

What CAAP provides:

  • » An eight-week summer program to develop strong analytical writing skills, discussion skills, and a baseline in chemistry and calculus.
  • » Room, board, textbooks, and excursions for the summer program.
  • » Elimination of the work-study obligation during freshman year.
  • » Organized study groups during the school year.

Homer designated a portion of his gift to expand and enhance the existing CAAP program. In 2008 the program doubled the number of existing CAAP Fellows and made the eight-week summer program residential.
